In the summer, when the temperature cranks up, the last you want to do is to turn the stove on and heat the house up! Asparagus is at it’s peak here at the end of May and the month of June, so when asparagus is fresh, we eat a lot of it!

Don’t get me wrong, we eat asparagus all year long because it is one of our favorites! In the winter though, when it’s not at it’s freshest, we have been known to slather it with butter, or hollandaise sauce. I mean yum! But in the summer, it is nice to let the flavor of the asparagus shine through, so we cook it very simply, with fresh ingredients!

How to make grilled asparagus

  1. Toss trimmed asparagus with olive oil, salt and pepper.
  2. Place on grill, over high heat, turning often. Watch carefully, just get a char, don’t let them burn.
  3. Serve with shaved fresh parmesan cheese and lemon zest, if desired.
